Ship Management

Our Ship Management department is responsible for the day to day management of the Utkilen vessels. This include the responsibility for technical standard of the vessels as well at manning the vessels with experienced and qualified crew. The Vessel Managers at the Ship Management department are responsible for coordinating the repair and maintenance of the vessels and purchasing of spare parts and other equipment for the vessels. Our Vessel Managers have the overall responsibility for support, supervision and management and are, together with the masters and ship operators, in the frontline positions for daily running of our ships.

We employ Northern European, Baltic and Philippine officers and crew on all our vessels.

Ship Operations

Our Ship Operations department is responsible to operate all our ships in a safe and cost effective way. Ship Operations involve tasks related to vessel performance, such as stowage of cargo, coordination of port calls, bunkering purchases, tank cleaning supervision and speed and performance monitoring. Furthermore, the department handles freight and demurrage collection and follow up of rules and regulations related to cargo and cargo handling.


Our subsidiary Bergen Tanker Brokers AS (BTB) is the commercial manager of the Utkilen fleet of chemical tankers. Our main focus is on the Northern European market with extensive service into the Baltic Sea.

With 16  vessels ranging from about 6.000 to 17.000 dwt., we primarily service the European petrochemical industry. We have a strong customer focus in everything we do and our chartering department is knowledgeable, service oriented and conduct our business to high quality, safety and environmental standards.
