On 28 July 2026, M/T Bergstraum experienced a small fire onboard which is now extinguished. There have been no reported personal injuries. The vessel was anchoraged outside Fredrikstad.

The crew and shore organisation are working to bring the situation fully under control. Relevant authorities have been notified, and Utkilen is cooperating fully with them.

Our immediate priorities are the safety of all personnel onboard, the protection of the vessel and surrounding environment, and ensuring that all required response measures are taken in close coordination with the authorities.
At this stage, the cause of the incident has not been established. Utkilen will initiate an internal investigation and will provide further information when confirmed and appropriate.

M/T Bergstraum is a 9.500 dwt. chemical tanker with double hull built in 1996. The vessel is registered in Norwegian International Ship Register and is classed by DNV. Bergstraum has 15 Baltic and Filipino crew onboard. Utkilen AS in Bergen, Norway manages the ship commercially and technically. Bergstraum is owned by our wholly owned subsidiary Utkilen Shipping AS.
